Was out tonight at around 8pm. Chop House burger was packed, Main Street was lively, and Stone Street Garden patios were pretty full.
Status update on the former Sol Irlandes building: looks like they added a balcony to the patio area.

Re: Downtown Dallas Retail
I've always been hesitant to say that Downtown has turned the corner is no longer a ghost town, but I feel very confident in making that claim now. I was thinking about that this past weekend as well. I think it depends on time of day. Saturday nights are definitely a lot livelier. I was at ChopHou...

Yeah, I visited Drugstore a few times for the coffee, but it was never a place that I really wanted to stay at. It felt a little dark and cold in there. From the above article: "It's going to have a '70s/'80s vibe, with fun drinks like daiquiris at awesome prices," he says. "We'll try...

I stoped by yesterday as well like around 3pm and it was pretty busy. It's almost like a mini-Whole Foods/Central Market. I noticed a dessert bar with cakes, which I'm looking forward to trying out on my next visit. Hours weren't posted, but I think I overheard one of the managers say it's open from...

Got up close to this one last night. The side facing Harry Hines lacks visual interest from the street level, but once you turn the corner, the sidewalks are wide with trees, and the building is more inviting and interesting. I'm not sure if the surface lot is final or not - the sidewalk here doesn'...

It's not noticeable when you first arrive, but after lingering a bit here, you do notice more street life like hotel guests checking out It's Sugar, or people trying out Billy Can Can, people walking their dogs, and your regular runners and joggers. On the Taylor Street side, I saw signs for a floral shop coming in on the far corner, and I believe there's was retail available for one more vendor. On the Pearl Street side, I think there's a Thai place and 2-3 more retail spaces.
The development facing Marilla has a ton of retail space.

Thanks so much for the info. I know housing first has worked really well in other cities, and BC Workshop has helped out with a small village here in Dallas, but that takes a lot of money to start up and sustain.
I'm going to check out the library and see what the experience is like.

There's a handful of open shops as you near the AAC, but it's overpowered by all the boarded up storefronts. With this shop open, you can kind of get a feel for what VP could be.
