Fwiw, I don't believe the assumed or perceived negative regional effects are objective fact. I've seen enough studies suggesting there were little to no negative regional effects on freeway removal.

I honestly can only think of one convention center in the United States with "good" things directly adjacent to it (Nashville). Otherwise the convention centers at best tend to be a few blocks removed from activity (Boston and San Diego). I'd still vote for this again because I think roll...

According to some of the people who work there, Grange Hall cancelled their plans to move because the new location would have been too small. Not sure why they didn't realize that from the get-go though.

Huh, so the lot I was referring to is immediately south of where The Carlisle on the Creek is going. It's a huge lot at Bowen and Carlisle they've cleared...so much room for activities!

It's at the NW corner of Bowen and Carlisle, I believe, right along the Katy Trail. It's a big lot that's already been cleared.

You're correct; the white is brick. The grey portions though are stucco, which IMO makes those parts of the tower look cheap.

It's a pretty nice building but I wish they would have used more of the dark brick from the building's base in place of the stucco on the tower's upper portion.

This is a great spot for a tower; hopefully the new building is of the caliber of The McKenzie. Also, hopefully once this one goes up, the lot on which Extra Space Storage sits is the next to go.

^^ I believe that was the intent of the building's midcentury elements (mostly seen towards the building's lower portion), to reference the period style of the Statler. Granted, these midcentury elements were more noticeable when the building was shorter.

I love so much of what SOM produces and these towers are no different. Beautiful. I wish the project was oriented more along Cedar Springs though. I find it odd that these towers as well as 23 Springs are positioned away from the street the way they are. How would this project face the street more?...
