Re: Las Colinas/North Irving Development
The Urban Center could use a corporate boost. But other than a couple of lots, I'd prefer to get a lot of mid-rise residential going, with retail at ground level... particularly along north shore. I actually like most of their plan, but would appreciate a few more floors to it all. The density is ju...

I'm actually most excited about areas A, F, and G. The fact that they are adjacent to the river, not surrounded by freeway (100%), and much big...

Re: Las Colinas/North Irving Development
8-10 stories for the office is impressive. I was expecting something more in line with the existing Verizon campus. I'm glad they've gone bigger.

Re: Trinity River Park
Wow... They've gone to some length to try and hide that tollway. But sure enough, it's still there... like a stubborn carpet stain hiding beneath a throw rug.

Re: Las Colinas/North Irving Development
^^^ I had high hopes for that Pollo Tropical, but was thoroughly disappointed. I had previously heard good things about the chain, but I felt the flavor was a but underwhelming for what I was expecting. Not bad, just bland. I don't see myself going back there any time soon. Too many good places to e...

Re: Irving: Comprehensive Plan
Any mention of time sensitivity with catalyst site development? Texas Stadium site, for example, I kinda think this real estate (and LRT Station) could wait a while, turn into something truly spectacular, if it's offline for some years while Lake Caroline turns into a really great downtown amenity....

Re: Forum Usage / Search Tips
Anybody know how to imbed a hyperlink into other text, as opposed to pasting the entire link into the post? It gets a little cluttered some times. I'm sure it's simple, but I haven't figured out how to do it yet... Also, I'd love if we could keep a regional prefix next to all topic titles. Such as '...

Re: Dallas Area Rapid Transit
Not sure I agree it's a win. The only reason this was contentious to begin with is because DART was ready to basically pay $1b of their own money for the Cotton Belt and $400m for D2 with mostly Fed money. The only thing that has changed after this vote is now they are now willing to pay $1.2b for ...

Re: Dallas Area Rapid Transit
It really shouldn't be considered an 'us vs them' debate. Downtown won due to the fact that the 'at-grade' D2 has been effectively killed off. That alternative had been so heavily influenced by special interests that it became inefficient and needed to be eliminated. It's true that the subway will f...

Re: Corporate Relocation/Expansions
Sorry to see such a big tenant leave Irving, but glad to see them go to the CBD. This guarantees that the mixed use parking garage gets built which will be a big deal for that side of town. And that makes it all well worth it. Las Colinas has been doing well lately, and that is a quality building th...

Irving: Comprehensive Plan
I realize all cities come up with these comprehensive plans from time to time, but I admit that I am quite impressed with what Irving has cobbled together here. I believe this is still a draft and hasn't been fully approved yet, but it's great to see the city embracing a more urban oriented future. ...
