It's not because the proposed projects appear cookie cutter. There's way more momentum in Austin, with a bunch of corporations relocating to Downtown Austin and hardly anyone (relatively speaking) is relocating to Downtown Dallas. DTD should pivot and become an Urban Neighborhood. Then Corporate HQ...

Most of that shopping center could easily go (I'd keep the older portions in the rear) and be replaced with something much more useful and dense and that might even offer some entertainment options that aren't bars. An Alamo Drafthouse or Cinepolis, a fun bowling alley, and that sort of thing would ...

I hadn't seen that article but I'd say it's first sentence is more positive than anything I'd previously seen:

As long as any new development is consistent with what was already approved, theoretically it should be smooth sailing. Still, you never know what's going to set off a NIMBY.

The first thing I would do is get rid of those useless grass strips between sidewalks and roads. This alone would double the width of most sidewalks in Dallas, dramatically improving walkability.

By "connects to Downtown" they must mean it doesn't interrupt connections to and from Downtown. I do like how it hides and/or undoes some of the impact of the freeways through there, and hopefully the deck park(s) happen to further mask their impact.
