I think this project is DOA now. HEB owns the land, so they're known to just sit on real estate for years. I suspect this one is now in their deep freezer. They waited way too long and the interest rates have put an end to it.

I felt that the proposed hotel was floundering since absolutely nothing was happening to the site except more broken windows. The building has become an eyesore along the Tollway. The building itself will need a lot of rehab.

The depth of the hole for this tower probably corresponds to the number of underground parking levels this development requires. Since the tower is 31-stories tall, I'd imagine they'll need a lot of parking for residences and guests.
