Re: DART D2 Subway
DART hasn't demonstrated an ability to spur development where it wouldn't already go. What in the world are you talking about? Everywhere DART rail has extended to has spurred tremendous development. Just look at the DART line to DFW airport. The Irving Convention Center station used to be an islan...

Who in the hell thought that the Pacific and Elm alignments were good ideas? Those are the most idiotic alignments. I was hoping for something that more integrally connects the southern section of downtown.

Excellent! I'm really impressed with that plan! It is excellently integrated. It's amazing how Downtown has transformed from a ghost town in the 90s to the life it has today, but this plan will truly bring life into Downtown.
How long do you suppose it will be until this is finally realized?

With the explosion of development along Ross Avenue, both in Downtown and East, I think it would be a good idea to build a trolley line along it. If not a trolley line, maybe in the future a subway that runs parallel with it.

20 years ago when DART ran its first train, people said the system was such a waste of money. Fast forward to today and look at all of the high dollar, very dense development that it is spurring. What we are seeing is New York City density being built around these stations.

With all of the major developments happening around Pacific and he DART traffic, that alone makes it a highly trafficked area. Put DART underground, but keep the stations located at the same locations, then you still maintain that high volume of pedestrian traffic. It would work in Downtown.

I have a theory that the suburbs will be the future slums. Dallas' northern suburbs would be an exception due to the fact that so many corporate headquarter relocations are moving out there. Nonetheless, the suburbs will be the future slums because the city is where the money and young professionals...
