None of those bars on that strip should aim for flashy/fancy/trendy. Just not the right spot in Uptown. There's a reason The Loon and Quarter Bar have outlasted the others.

I mean, it's January. I would think it's temporary covering for the patio so they can fill more tables. Close it in and heat it and you can use those tables where you would otherwise not be able to when it's cold outside and open air. I bet once it warms up they remove it.

It could very likely be a phased open. There's no way the lower floors aren't close to being completely outfitted and finished. They will release a few floors every month or two probably. Not that unusual, you even see Texas Doughnut complexes do it.

Not the best location for foot traffic but I guess good for them for going bigger. The Loon was right next to Eastwoods. Wonder if a redevelopment is in the works.

Nowhere near that recent in Deep Ellum. Images are from before the Case Building opened and before the previous buildings on the Novel Building site were demolished. Probably not related, but the Preston/Royal location took a bad hit from the tornado. I wonder if any of the focus and efforts on Central Market/HEB's end had to be shifted towards rebuilding that location first.

Lived in the high rise apartments just north of that (McKinney Uptown) for two years. Both buildings have been closed/abandoned since before summer 2016. I always heard that the owner of that parking lot makes a ton of money off valet/parking for the bars across the street and hasn't had an interest...

Hotel is very likely for training employees, similar to the JetBlue hotel in Orlando and honestly I think it is only a matter of time before Southwest does the same thing as I am sure it's cheaper in the long run than having a permanent block of rooms at the downtown Sheraton and having shuttle buse...

Walmart has always been headquartered in Bentonville. They have been the primary driver to Bentonville really exploding economically and XNA having impressive connectivity to the largest metros in the US. Fun fact: NW AR has 2 other fortune 500 companies out there: JB Hunt and Tyson Foods.

This is surprising. There are great breaks in traffic that allows safe crossing even without the cross walk signs but if it means wider sidewalks then I have no complaints here :)

It is odd that they're spending the money to resurface parts of it if they're just going to slim it down...

The airport and flight path directly over Maple and Lemmon will always be detrimental to turning them into more dense, urban neighborhoods. Those planes just fly too low and are too loud. Went through the Starbucks drive through once and the plane landing above was too loud for her to hear my order....

Probably realized having a large open lobby was easier to maintain and cheaper to build than a massive 8+ story atrium while still being able to provide the same amenities. Plus it allows them to enter smaller markets that wouldn't justify a massive hotel.

I have heard for awhile that one of the runways (13R/31L I believe) will be basically completely repaved in the near future. This will make things VERY painful for all 3 of the airlines. Last fall 13L/31R was closed for construction and there were decent delays and metering.
