Re: Knox / Henderson - Knox Street Side

Those old condos are still there for now. In fact I'm pretty sure I saw a for sale sign up for a unit there last weekend. Trinsic did Aura on McKinney a few blocks south I think.

Yeah, I went to school with people who work in City Staff departments they try their best to get things done right but when a council and the general public get involved there tends to be a water downed solution when different priorities get put in place. I am not suggesting city staff should have ...

Re: Legacy West

At this rate, someone who wants to shop on both sides will have to get in a car sit in traffic and search for another parking spot. That's such a huge waste of resources on so many levels and is why we have traffic problems in the first place. This can't be right, here is the City of Plano's take o...

Re: Knox: Oliver + Central (18 ST)

This one seems to be taking forever. I think we got wind of it maybe two years ago. One year ago, the existing buildings were demolished. Then nothing for a year. Today a small bit of progress. Today they removed the billboard. Perhaps we will see physical evidence of progress begin soon. Here is a ...

Its on my way home. I'll try to take a few in the next couple of days. The whole build out with 5 buildings/restaurants around it seem almost done. Yes, please. Some outside shots. All those shots posted by the Advocate of perfectly stacked vegetables are drool-worthy, but an exterior shot would ha...

How long would that last before the developers nixed the release of information they didn't control? We all saw what happened during the last two days with the rend...

The tower itself looks very dark and depressing in person with all that brown/bronze glass. It's like a black hole sucking all the light around it into itself.

Dallas based Erdos at home (fka IO Metro) closing all locations according to DMN. The Dallas location is directly across the street from the just announced Room and Board. The competition is stiff, particularly if RH triples in size. http://www.dallasnews.com/business/retail/2017/04/05/dallas-based-...

It has quite a presence as you drive up McKinney. It's starting to have a presence as you drive north on NCX as well. As to the comment about how slow it's coming, I have the opposite impression. This one and Oliver & Central were announced around the same time. O&C is just sitting there wi...

Re: DALLAS to HOUSTON High Speed Rail

I was thinking about the HSRail project this weekend. Dallas would have the exact same problem if for whatever reason, they decide in the future to extend HSRail further north to OK or KS. Where would you put it on the north side of DT? Under I-35 sounds like a good idea, but how realistic is a tunn...

They submitted an application for the sitework to begin. That should start in 60-90 days. They had to make some design changes based on preliminary discussions with the city last year -- nothing you would notice. The basic design/look remains. They had to make the building's footprint smaller (is th...

I think I like the sound of this better than an Apple store. While I also saw the resemblance in the renderings to their stores, I never understood the necessity. Right up the freeway, you have TWO very large Apple stores already (one at Knox and one in NorthPark). Not sure DT could support a third ...

Re: Oak Cliff: Bishop Arts

I read a story this week (Dallas Voice, perhaps?) that said the Artisan Collective was closing next week because the rent was jacked up and they wouldn't be able to afford the next increase since they opened there about 10 years ago. I just wanted to say that if Bishop Arts can't figure out a way to...

Re: Downtown Dallas: Retail

It seems like every time we take a step forward with retail downtown, we take a step back. We never seem to be able to get over that hump. I am amazed that those high-priced stores on Main are still in business. I suspect Headington is heavily subsidizing them. The majority of folks who work downto...

I liken it to my dog peeing on a fire hydrant. The name seems to mean more in California, he makes a big play in Dallas, invests a bunch of money and names it after himself. He's marking his territory. I see this as further extension of the latest building naming trend only with a personal touch (T...

Re: Uptown Dallas: New Hotel at Hall and Oak Grove

This is a great location for good views of DT Dallas if the building is positioned correctly. Within 2 blocks of the Dream Hotel proposal. If the Dream Hotel doesn't get moving, it could be too late for them with this one and the hotel in WV just 3 blocks north on Oak Grove.

Move the 20 story version to the land accumulated by HEB just NW of Oaklawn and Lemmon intersection. They don't need it now that they bought Albertsons (Lemmon & McKinney). Put retail on the first floor, high density/visibility project to kick off the rebirth of Lemmon Ave. Homerun!!

I sure do like that McKinney Ave does not run in a straight line from DT to WV. It creates opportunities for more interesting architecture than just square boxes due to the odd lot shapes.

That Melrose deal needs to be for a parking garage! Agreed if the garage has ground level retail facing Cedar Springs and uses the rooftop for a pool. I thought they needed meeting space too. Truth be told, the Uptown location is probably a better match with Central Market brand than H-E-B. The question is....will they gut it an go for instant humongous sales, or will they think long term and redevelop?
