There is one house left someone is living in on the corner of those blocks. I also assumed apartments but there is a Methodist parking lot on that side too so maybe it will be for expansion.
Great downtown views though if they build apartments.

The only reason (besides cost) that I could think there would be a reason they can't have a toll tunnel is that massive storm water tunnel going from the Fed Reserve building towards east Dallas. I don't know how deep that thing is but I know it's a massive tunnel.

I still maintain TXDOT should just do a Addison Airport style tunnel for this section. You get the highway, the land, and some of the cost covered by commuters. Is it expensive? Yes. Will this happen? No, but would please both sides of the debate.

I don't see the govt. blocking the Hawaiian/Alaska merger. Hawaiian is relatively small and Hawaii is served by pretty much every airline already so there is plenty of competitors. Even Hawaiians long haul routes have competition from American, Delta, and United.

I don't know the costs or how they came up with their numbers, but working at an airport isn't cheap let alone the second busiest one in the world. I'm sure a large portion of the cost is going towards admin or logistics associated with airport construction.

They could do something with the UPRR alignment too. While that would be more difficult and they'd have to deal with UP it could in theory be done and you'd be close to the Arlington entertainment and UTA. Yeah, if only UP wasn't so hostile to passenger trains being built on or run on their lines. ...

I disagree that parking lots are better, but that's only based on going to games in other cities with both options. The nice thing about the AAC is the connection to DART/Tex Rail. If a new area goes into the design district I hope some sort of pedestrian walkway is built that is somewhat protected from the elements. Unfortunately I see that either this wont happen or it will overrun this homeless if it does.

I'm a little surprised there's not a good rail connection between the TX triangle cities. Brightline in FL and CA seem to use existing tracks for the most part and I guess there really isn't that here.
