Personally, I don't see the Hunts moving forward on this development, HSR or not. The Convention Center will have to show that Dallas is still a destination city for conventions. Las Vegas is the #1 market by far for these kinds of gatherings. Dallas just doesn't have that kind of drawing power that...

Not surprising. This guy gets a lot of black ink for blue sky dreams. NewPark will never happen. If there is a new convention center, I suspect other interests & developers will build in the same general vicinity. He'll never break ground.

This section of Downtown is unique in that the Fairmont, Fountain Place, & DMA provide some fairly active foot traffic, yet the YMCA's building backs up to a large section of Downtown that is a sea of asphalt parking lots. It really isn't that inviting for developers. JMO.

Lemmon Avenue used to be a terrific street with all kinds of great shops, clubs, & eateries. It went through a big decline with abandoned buildings, cheap fast food, head shops, and overgrown lots. Maybe now is the time we'll see a renaissance along the street. The area would certainly support it.

The original plans were to accommodate Amazon, which would have an entire area of Downtown dedicated to it and its accessory businesses. That went bust, so they redesigned a more downscale development, which still can't get off the ground.

I think the Isosceles Tower and Rohmnan's twin towers, all slated to be built on the Eastern side of Downtown adjacent to Deep Ellum, are destined to be only pretty renderings on paper, never to be built. The momentum on the Eastern side of Downtown has cooled considerably.
