They are planters. They do look like giant urinals. Renderings show tall thin Italian Cypress plantings, but do not show homeless people peeing in them, which I assume is inevitable.

Thankfully the lights are not nearly as bright as they used to be. Nice reasonably soft glow.
Also, they've cleaned half of the tower windows on the southern face and the difference is striking. Worth seeing if you can make it over here before they finish.

The Beer Garden had a soft opening today, as did the AT&T Experience Store (open only to employees and family as of today). Most of the plaza is open to the public to walk through at this point.
