Very cool. I love how we're starting to see developments along largely ignored streets close to urban core (e.g. Oak Lawn, Fitzhugh).

They have for some time, thereby aiding / encouraging the growth. Austin is in most respects a huge success story. Is it all it's hyped up to be? Depends. The study that TX-DOT commissioned said that average drive times would only be increased by 3-5 minutes. You're not removing pathways but tearing down the highway. A working plan would be to replace it with two sizable, street-level boulevards. Plus you have the other streets (i.e. the grid) that ca...

W.r.t. restaurants, I think a lot of the Union's momentum (at least with The Henry and North Italia) has to do with the developer knowing the guy behind Fox Restaurant Concepts (both based in Phoenix). No idea if the Park District is taking awhile or if this is normal.

Many of the establishments named in the PDF brochure are <18 months old (e.g. Backyard), so wouldn't seem to be a dead project. This would replace the surface parking lot next to Angry Dog and Bomb Factory? I always hated that lot.
