I don't see West Village as inward facing at all. There are doors facing almost all of the surrounding streets and its 'inside' is a parking garage. The reason the West Village is separated *is* because of the CVS, strip shopping center, and yes, the dead Albertsons.

The hole has gotten VERY deep. There's going to be a ton of parking underneath this project. I wonder if in part they're anticipating the removal of all those surface lots behind Starbucks, Crate & Barrel, Stag, etc.

That drain tunnel's depth is 120ish feet so I'm not sure it would conflict. Some interesting examples of highway removal. Man, I hope this one happens. IMO this is the single most encouraging project out of everything currently proposed. A nice-looking, tall residential building that will hopefully bring life to a part of downtown that's been mostly overlooked for decades.

Frontier announced this morning they will relocate to Dallas. 3000 jobs are expected to be created. Frontier will locate in Uptown, but the article didn't say exactly where. There are a few reasons why there isn't more residential development Downtown, the biggest of which being that other parts of the city have been, and probably continue to be, much more desirable places to live.

That's very cool but yes, it's an older design iteration. The office building on Knox that incorporates the former Mashburn facade is probably the closest thing from that video to the current design.
