Honestly, *nobody* has experience with operations that involve flying jets on magnetic rails inside of a vacuum-sealed tube.

It's political willpower/obstruction and public perception that stalls our projects... not the ability to implement a technology.

The difference is that the highways benefit the rural areas, and the benefits outweigh the negatives. The politicians will fight tooth and nail to get them in their districts. My god... I've been waiting for this for soooo long. This makes me happier than D2... cotton belt, platform extensions, 3 car DART trains and the Modern streetcar combined. The only thing I'd get more excited about is the DAL-HOU Shinkansen.

DART seems to be built for those who have no choice instead of trying to serve the area population as a whole. I'm not suggesting that it's a bad objective as it does provide an option to those who have no other option. But when you do that, you have little motivation for providing 'better' service...

There's never been a fatality on the technology that will be used here. Cant say that for Chinese tech or any other system in use.

I imagine there are some big hurdles ahead to prove you can send people in pods thru a tube at vacuum.

So, it looks like the Dallas PCC, 612, is going back in to storage or scrap and the Toronto PCC car, 4614, that was in the shop is coming back from storage for restoration. *sign* I knew something was up... :-( I will add a PCC car to my list of things I want to see before I die... along with lakes...

That green line is going northwest into the parking lot of Trinity Lofts... the old rail corridor pretty much ends at Slocum.

This is exactly what I fear... tearing down a portion of the Design District for sports.

Maybe because the argument has been that only Houston and Dallas will benefit from this. I think some of the opposing counties are pretty close to Houston correct? This could reframe it as a more regional benefit?

When Victor Gruen designed the first shopping mall in the 50's the original design incorporated neighborhoods where we now have parking lots.

He was very sad not to see this implementation. He envisioned this form of mixed use from the start and we are only now starting to understand.
