Re: Trinity River Park

So since those meetings have started taking place, have we heard any rumblings or updates about this project?

Re: Dallas Smart District

Well hopefully this is not yet another Spire situation and nothing but smoke and mirror bull crap that Dallas attracts. But I do see the reasoning for waiting for Amazon to decide, the Smart District IMO is probably the leading Dallas site for Amazon should they choose Dallas even over the Victory P...

Re: Could Dallas land Amazon HQ '2'?

If they Choose D.C. I really wouldnt be upset because it just means that this whole thing was a farce anyway and it was only to try and pull more deals for the DC metro location. I mean simply choosing the location because you live in the area means that no one ever had a chance. Yeah it would suck ...

Re: Could Dallas land Amazon HQ '2'?

Didnt Amazon specifically say that they want an urban downtown setting and not a suburb location? Along with the requirements for mass transit, access to highways and the airports? How are morons still thinking that the suburbs have a chance other than typical suburbanites bashing the core while hav...

Re: Could Dallas land Amazon HQ '2'?

Wow, if you bothered to read the article it even states the Lobbyist specialized in energy policy within Amazon, its not related to HQ2 at all.

Re: Downtown Dallas: The Drever

If it werent for the hole it would leave in the skyline I would say just demoloish the damn thing and let something else be built, but being Dallas it would likely sit as either a parking lot or only a 20 story glass box gets replaced there because the city doesnt realize it can zone for requirement...

Re: Downtown Dallas: The Drever

....ANNNNNDDDDD CALLED IT!!! Classic Dallas, and after all of the facade was taken off too. Now the City will have to bail them out of course, that is what they will go crying to City Hall for. Well then, I guess we can start the wait of another financier stepping in. I mean christ all of the hard w...

Re: Downtown Dallas: The Drever

Its Dallas, that is exactly what is going to happen and it will sit for 20 years in that state.

Re: Downtown Dallas: The Drever

Jesus how hard is it to secure funding for stuff like this? This is clearly a worth while investment but it seems Dallas just attracts half assed investment firms and corporations to take on projects like this with no intention of actually doing anything or paying for anything themselves, just to go...

Re: Could Dallas land Amazon HQ '2'?

When it comes to Amazon HQ2, Moody's thinks Austin has the best shot https://www.bizjournals.com/austin/news/2017/10/13/when-it-comes-to-amazon-hq2-moodys-thinks-austin.html I haven't seen too many of these 'lists', but DFW doesn't seem to be ranked all that high or ever listed on the ones I have s...

Re: Dallas Smart District

The thing that has really put a hold on building big projects like this, and skyscrapers in general, has been the damn banks. No one will lend money without a signed tenant anymore unlike before the recession where you could be allowed to make a business case for the market you were building in and ...

Re: Could Dallas land Amazon HQ '2'?

I have no inside information other than a brief discussion with a former high ranking person from Amazon's real estate department, but based on his insight I'm calling my shot right now that Atlanta ends up winning HQ2. The next tier cities would be Philly, Boston, or DC. I think they want to be in...

Re: Dallas Smart District

[/quote] Regardless, of how you personally feel...it’s still historic. In my opinion, if a structure cannot be built with the same exact architecture, style, etc. it should be deemed historic. Value and usage does not dictate weather a structure is historic or not. Buildings such as this cannot be r...

Re: Dallas Smart District

Ill be honest, I could care less about the historic value of the Eagles Nest. Its never used hardly, fenced off, and provides little value. Also historic is in the eye of the beholder, it isnt that unique of a building anyway. And if it means bull dozing it down to get this game changing district bu...

Re: Dallas Smart District

This is exciting, but dont hold your breath. HOPEFULLY they have another tenant in mind other than Amazon, because the Victory Park proposal is probably going to be the winner with how much work Amazon has done with Perot and the other names attached at victory park. If it is a true thing that actua...

Re: Could Dallas land Amazon HQ '2'?

The Reunion One is Interesting but I dont know if Amazon would want it. Though really there are three real proposals that meet all of the requirements. 1. Victory Park / Hillwood - Is the most likely One 2. Matthews Southwest Site - Probably has more potential than many think with it being such a bl...

Re: Could Dallas land Amazon HQ '2'?

God, just screw the burbs, they are going to water down the chances of the entire region and they dont seem to get that they dont meet the requirements. However they of course will do what they always do, throw money at Amazon and give them crazy incentives which will hurt the city in the long run w...

Re: Could Dallas land Amazon HQ '2'?

They are rolling in, but hopefully they can reach the eyes and ears of Amazon / Bezos. I do hope that the Mathews and Riverside site puts something forth, because that would really be great to transform that area from nothing to something spectacular with the incoming Trinity River Park. And I would...

So....I am kind of surprised no one here has mentioned that the Trinity Tollway is now dead, meaning this can actually truly happen.

What is the latest news on this ? Anything from City Hall?

Re: Could Dallas land Amazon HQ '2'?

I may be in the minority, but if Amazon comes to Dallas, it ought to be in or very near Downtown Dallas. Downtown Dallas offers the only 'true' urban environment (and even that, admittedly, is a bit of a stretch - especially compared to other major US cities). Anywhere else in our region would simp...
