Saw 2200 Main today—they have done a remarkable job on the exterior. I never would have imagined that the white paint could be so completely removed and such a fabulous building would emerge from under it.

They never turned the sign on in the mornings—to save money? Anyway at the busiest time of day for a juice place it looked closed. Strange.

It’s quite clear that one hotel won’t be enough for DE. If I could pick, that’s what I would want there. A hotel at that location would draw from DE, Baylor Hospital and the new Baylor Admin, and would do quite well.

I consider it a sign of progress that we have moved on to criticizing the rebranding and not the redevelopment itself.

I certainly like all the new stuff in SoVi / VP / West Uptown / Lowest Mac / Almost Harwood.

For what it's worth, every non-Dallasite (friends, visitors, work colleagues, etc) I've ever spoke to thought Uptown, LoMac, Victory, Deep Ellum, etc were all part of Downtown. Great location—better than anything they have on Harwood St. More accessible. More walkable (into VP). More shopping and restaurants nearby. Their other buildings seem to be doing well. One would this one would do even better.

So much of the Uptown restaurant scene is aimed at expense account dining. It’s nice to see a grocery store and some affordable spots for the people who actually live there. That’s what makes a neighborhood livable.

The new retail on both sides of the street looks like a very promising configuration. This may become the lively block that the Arts Distirct has needed. With the more affordable restaraunts here, they might even draw some foot traffic up from KWP.
