I hoping that we start to see some of the connective tissue between Main Street/Commerce and the Farmers Market/East Quarter start to show some fruit. With a new residential high rise in the East Quarter creating a new anchor and the Harwood Park visually advancing at some point in 2021 that side s...
Are the people who oppose putting a QuickTrip on Lemmon in Uptown, also opposed to a putting a drug manufacturing plant on a pretty darn good multi-purpose site in Deep Ellum? I am not sure a gas station in Uptown on Cole Ave is a perfect corollary to rehabbing a building in Deep Ellum, but I have ...

A major vegan restaurant with L.A. roots is coming to Dallas. Called Belse Plant Cuisine, it'll be located downtown at 1910 Pacific Ave. #1400, next door to the Majestic Theatre, with an opening set for the first week of February https://dallas.culturemap.com/news/restaurants-bars/01-28-21-belse-pla...
I wonder how much Quick Trip would pay for a location like that? I would rather see a higher and better use too, but that is an awfully good location for a gas station, and Quick Trip is a big operator, so I bet the price was pretty strong. That might be the simplest explanation for why we aren’t ge...
What has happened to the town home development near 345 between Commerce and Canton, by the self storage? Do the lenders have it now? I am surprised that the developer had to stop work. Even with COVID, single family is doing great in Dallas. The nearby In-Town Homes project sold out. And this parti...
Hardwood Park to break ground late summer 2021 Harwood Park design work officially kicked off in 2020, and the public weighed in on the concepts and amenities they want to see in this park in the East Quarter District of Downtown. Todd Interests and East Quarter pledged $1 million to Parks of Downt...
There are not many restaurants, bars or retailers here outside of the Farmers Market itself. Not much that is neighborhoody like the Green Door. It seems that with so may Farmer’s Market apartments the neighborhood could support a lot more. I hope that the East Quarter becomes their pedestrian desti...
^I forgot about the OP.2 But with the former Mobil Oil HQ building intended to be a cornerstone of a biotech "hub" intended to grow dramatically, perhaps the huge vacant hospital will join the repurposing. Moving on.... Pegasus Place certainly proves the viability of repurposing older Par...
What makes this building especially well suited for biotech? Did the redevelopment add labs, refrigeration, exhaust systems, etc.? Extending the elevated North Campus Connector to this building would be a cool way to tie it to the rest of the campus. (This is a state agency. They love to build highw...
This is a big shift away from the glass towers they were showing. Makes me think they are getting serious about doing something, and focusing on what would work over there.
I am also disappointed to see the brewery building covered in stucco. I was hoping to see the old brick like the rest of the West End. Was the old brick too fragile? Did removing the gray paint damage it.
An interesting point of view on the DD... Dallas Design District investors plan office project and restaurant “The International has been at the top of our target acquisition list for years,” Quadrant’s Chad Cook said in a statement. “We are excited to integrate it with an additional 2.5 acres wher...
From September 2020 Local developer offers glimpse at future development possibilities in Victory Park Hillwood owns an 8.5-acre parking lot along Victory Avenue, where on the southernmost portion, Victory Commons One is currently being built. In a positive development for the people in the neighborhood, a grocery store on Singleton at Hampton has opened after the building sat vacant for years.
Yup. We moved into that neighborhood between Old Parkland and Cedar Springs about 4 years ago and the transformation over here has been insane. Better townhomes/apartments/towers/retail popping up everywhere. Also tons of street improvements. It all seemed to start when Old Parkland started it's ex...
One of the most significant properties in Dallas’ Design District sold to an investor that’s been making a major play in the neighborhood. The award-winning International on Turtle Creek showroom and office complex on Irving Boulevard has been purchased by Dallas’ Quadrant Investment Properties. Qua...

A contrarian view here, but I am wondering if the thing that is driving Uber to downsize, i.e. improving financial performance, might also drive the HQ to Dallas.
I count 12-14 hotels in and around EMC now. When travel resumes and those hotels fill, we should see a healthy amount of retail and restaurant traffic from hotel guests exploring the neighborhood.
Given that there are 0 sq ft of office space currently under lease in this neighborhood, might it make more sense to prove up the market with a few nicely done 5-8 story buildings, THEN go tall?

Honestly, I have always thought that what was attracting people to the new residential in DE was proximity and walkability to the bars and restaurants. That said, something that would help would with stability would be daytime stores, breakfast joints, soft goods stores and other retail that service...
To sit back and think about how desperate the city was for a grocery store of a decent size anywhere close to the CBD 20yrs ago. The Neighborhood Walmart and former Albertson's in the West Village being the only two options back then. Now we have Tom Thumb almost in Deep Ellum, a Tom Thumb in Uptow...
Would be nice if the City would improve the sidewalks on Dragon and Slocum to encourage more street life and investment between The Cabana, The Virgin and on to the Trinity Strand. Seems to be a frequent problem that Dallas has great assets to anchor infill, but Dallas doesn’t make the investments i...
All of the sudden we have street life in the Arts District. With this building, the TCT renovation, 2000 Ross and the Hall hotel and restaurants, the change in the feel is quite noticeable. You also feel like the Uptown mood has finally come to the south side of the park. It’s a remarkable change. A...

Interesting that they're moving from urban-style HQ to Westlake. You think they'd save enough dollars by going from SF and could afford / want to move into Dallas urban core. I guess they already had a facility out in Westlake though... Read “proximity to DFW Airport:” “Both companies have a sizabl...
N Lamar Street is what is holding back the West End. That’s where the traffic counts are highest, but the scenery is mostly empty buildings, dead storefronts and surface lots. It looks derelict if you don’t know otherwise. More curb appeal on Lamar would pull people on to Houston and Record. The fro...
