Re: Cityplace East: ACS/Xerox redevelopment

https://inewhomes.com/the-central-phase-one-complex Can anyone confirm a groundbreaking on this site. Apparently a residential component (17 story high rise) is under construction. I haven’t been through there in a few weeks, but there is definitely a long, low slung Dallas donut that is decently f...

Re: Deep Ellum 1.0

^ It's not comeback, it's a hostile takeover from Uptown. The "renovated" Serious Pizza has all the ambience of a Denny's. The other restaurants/bars owned by the same company serve up canned music and cardboard food to plastic people. The ultimate insult is The Stack. As another poster s...

Re: Deep Ellum 1.0

It's sad how many people here are out of touch with the reality of urban living. This isn't Sim City. Real people in a real neighborhood need real the same real businesses and services that everyone else does. Not another dozen Thai-Inspired Ice Cream Shops and Surf Board Fitness Studios. The new 7...

Re: Deep Ellum 1.0

Are the people who oppose putting a QuickTrip on Lemmon in Uptown, also opposed to a putting a drug manufacturing plant on a pretty darn good multi-purpose site in Deep Ellum? I am not sure a gas station in Uptown on Cole Ave is a perfect corollary to rehabbing a building in Deep Ellum, but I have ...

Re: Knox / Henderson - Knox Street Side

Thanks. So . . . almost 4 years after we thought they were kicking off a feasibility study, we are still only at the stage where "Dallas [is] working with NCTCOG to study potential extension . . ." In Dallas-speak, that sentence means almost nothing. ;-) And as I mentioned above, it doesn...

Re: Knox / Henderson - Knox Street Side

Can anyone find any indication that the feasibility study was ever done? I can’t comment on the above, but peep page 69 of the DART Reference Book. • City of Dallas working with NCTCOG to study potential extension to Knox Street, including potential upgrades to accommodate modern streetcar in the M...

Re: Bike Infrastructure

They have indeed painted bike lanes on the bridge. Took me by surprise when I drove over the bridge on Tuesday. There aren’t bike lanes painted headed into downtown after crossing the bridge, but there are bike lanes on Ft Worth Ave (which is really just Commerce) headed away. Part of the reconstruc...

Re: Knox / Henderson - Knox Street Side

Any official timing for the MATA extension? Is there an actual plan for an extension, or is this one of those "plans" like the "plan" for a full second level expansion of Northpark? FWIW, I don' see anything about an extension in the NCTOG 2045 transportation plan. Pre-COVID, I ...

Re: Uptown Dallas: Business Openings and Closings

^ Certainly can't have profitable, taxpaying businesses that service the people who actually live there, can we? Ask yourself this: How many people a day use that boondoggle streetcar, and how many use that CVS and gas station? My dude. How often do you minimize or dismiss others due to what part o...

Re: Uptown Dallas: Business Openings and Closings

Another article talking about Haywire, but this one also mentions that FB Society will also bring their Mexican Sugar concept to Uptown later this year. Not sure where that might go?? Maybe the old Circo space?? https://www.dallasnews.com/food/restaurant-news/2021/01/21/2-restaurants-in-the-suburbs...

Re: Uptown Dallas: Business Openings and Closings

Letting a handful of armchair city planners (many of whom have not and will not ever live in Uptown) dictate how it should be developed would just kill the golden goose and drive all the people with the sort of incomes required to fill up luxury high-rises and support high-end retail and dining... ...

Re: Knox / Henderson - Knox Street Side

Village Baking is opening a location at the old Parachute/Outdoor Voices space at 4539 Travis. Presumably, the concept would be quite similar to Boulangerie. Great addition to the neighborhood, even if that corner is incredibly underutilized. Curious as to the length of their lease. https://dallas.c...

Re: Downtown Dallas: 2000 Ross Project

I was in the area on Saturday afternoon while the mobile crane was onsite. The boom was over the patio to the right of Sloane’s Corner at Trammel Crow Center. I was only passing through, but it was clear they were working on something at TCC.

Here’s to hoping the next ROW closures are JWM related.

Re: Uptown Dallas - Field Street Development [North End Apartments Site]

It is interesting that the ‘park’ and retail is orientated towards River St, which consists of a parking lot and non-active side of the Perot, as opposed to the AAC. Houston St is a mess currently, but I’d be curious as to their answer.

QuickTrip has leased just over 1 acre at 3512 Cole Ave. in Dallas. Ton Filley and Jack Weir with The Retail Connection represented the tenant . Terrible. https://www.dmagazine.com/commercial-real-estate/2021/01/deal-ticker-another-california-based-real-estate-firm-relocates-to-dallas/

Looks like a restaurant space may go in at 2820 Commerce late next year after renovations, potentially called EllumEx. https://www.tdlr.texas.gov/TABS/Search/Project/TABS2021004185 The spot is earmarked for Federales per the flyer on the Shop and Co website. The original Federales is in Fulton Mark...

Re: Uptown Dallas: McKinney & Olive Tower (335 FT | 21 ST)

It’s a plaza that consists of a chain lunch place, a chain coffee shop and chain steakhouse that is distant from the street and separated by a large driveway/garage entrance. On top of that, it is regularly completely in the shade. Something to entice the hordes at KWP to move down Olive would proba...
