Re: Las Colinas/North Irving Development

I’m out of town for the holidays. So are all my clients. We were gonna see a movie over here in California but decided to stay home with the family. When we checked online, the theater wasn’t full around here either, though it usually is. I wonder if the holidays have anything to do with it.

To be fair, anything’s gourmet compared to McDs, lol. So weird, my wife and I went to the Elf Holiday Party at Alamo last week and it was sold out. We had to sit in the front. The parking at TMF has been completely full every time we go. We have to go up to the fifth floor to find any parking.

Hard to compare fast food burgers to gourmet burgers that cost an extra two-plus dollars. In n out and Shake Shack are two of the top three fast food burger joints, IMO. And I’d prefer Shake Shack to Twisted Root (gasp, sacrilege) at Water Street (not that it’s an option.)

Made it over to Olivella’s. The drinks are pretty expensive at this location - $11 for a shot of Deep Eddy vodka. Service isn’t as polished either. I was a little in panic mode because they’re opening up Olivella’s in Las Colinas in September, but I’m sorta relieved it’s the one in Victory Park. Hopefully it stays open - I really like that place and we’d walk to Olivella’s frequently when we lived in west end.

Fort Worth does beat Dallas on some metrics, for sure. It has a livelier downtown, a better collection of art museums, and nicer green spaces. Also, I’ve seen more engaging operas in Fort Worth than in Dallas - they really push the envelope with mariachi opera, salsa opera, modern Ginsberg opera, bi...

That 93% was due to endless highway expansion by city/regional/state planners, not some magical "free market" choice between cars & trains. The population growth didn't occur out of thin air. LOL. Yeah, everybody moved to the suburbs because of some giant government conspiracy. Ok.......

They’ve also got the translation wrong. “Cattivo” means “bad” in Italian, e.g, “I’m not such a bad comedian” = “non son cattivo comico.” “Brutto” means ugly.
