Re: Knox District |The Galatyn - (20 ST)

Regarding the Kairoi Residential development, sadly the large trees on that site were removed. But I understand it would be incredibly challenging to build around them given their central location on the plot.

This isn't a fantastic shot, but perspective of the site from The McKenzie by the end of McKinney Ave.

Re: Knox District: Ivy Park - The Ivy (~18 ST) + The English (20 ST)

Both of these lots now have StreetLights (SLR) banners on their construction fencing. I wasn’t under the impression they were SLR products. Anyone with any insight?

Berkley’s Market on Knox is now open (what they’re calling a soft opening).

This morning about half the shelving space was stocked, the coffee bar was open, and work crews were installing some larger appliances.

Not quite a webcam ;) but from today 6 July 2023. It looks like the concrete island went away — I wonder if indeed a fountain will go in its place as a concept sketch posted by @longonbigd in the McKinney Ave Master Plan thread ( https://dallasmetropolis.com/dfwu/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1199 ) showe...

The original Oak Lawn was anything south of highland to downtown and from Inwood to maple Ave. Here is an old map from the OLC website. Upper McKinney makes it in by a hair. https://d3ciwvs59ifrt8.cloudfront.net/f289cc2e-1bc8-4649-9d22-646822b1cfc6/30119edf-6339-424e-ba2c-677146a99634_l.jpg

I stumbled on this presentation to the Oaklawn Committee from last year. Great find. Thank you for sharing. Do you know from what date this presentation came? I searched but couldn't find it. I am particularly interested in this plan given I live in the area. I thought a roundabout would be good fo...

Re: Knox District |The Galatyn - (20 ST)

Current resident of the McKenzie and I agree that noise from Central is the biggest design flaw of the building. Considering how many units have been retrofitted with extra windows for soundproofing, I would be flabbergasted if StreetLights didn’t do a better job at this new building. Having lived a...

Re: DFW Airport

A hospitality company gets the right to use the name and sell products with the company that owns the brand as a consultant. Very interesting. I did not know that. No wonder DFW eateries are usually terrible. I recall when Terminal D first opened it had a La Duni that bombed. I think part of the is...

Re: Harwood Int'l District: Bleu Ciel (390 FT / 33 ST)

Since land is not an issue in Dallas and developers can build the “next best condo” nearby at any time, for me, personally, a new condo is a tough sell. While they look great to start they become quickly dated. So if you’re in the market, why would you select “Building X” that was the new hot thing ...

Coming to 4919 McKinney (near Chelsea Corner and between The McKenzie and the planned new Streetlights Residential tower).

As a nearby resident, I’m very pleased, but do wonder if this, Foxtrot AND Berkley’s can all make it.

Thank you for the site map/plan. Looks promising with plenty of trail integration / interface. I have also heard that Highland Park is reviewing plans to raze and upgrade the old apartments directly on the other side of Katy Trail (Knox & Abbott). Last week I noticed they razed a swath of two-st...

Re: Knox / Henderson - Knox Street Side

From what I have heard, they are planning for this to be a step above The McKenzie. And with only two to three units per floor and all underground parking, it seems that may be the case. I hope (and assume) they learned their lesson on soundproofing windows... The McKenzie is fantastic building, run...

Re: Knox: The McKenzie (~240 ST / 22 ST)

I agree that StreetLights does a great job with unit finishes. The kitchens are fantastic. The built-in Sonos and speakers are also nice. Recessed, dimmable overhead lighting in the living room is a fairly unique feature and one that lends a more polished ambiance. I assume they are able to get grea...

Re: Knox: The McKenzie (~240 ST / 22 ST)

I realize that photos of the Case Building were initially posted, but the irony is that these are both StreetLights projects, a development firm which tends to use a cookie-cutter design with cheap off-the-rack windows and a goal to sell the project quickly. I don’t blame them, but I find most of th...
