There was a Shell gas station + car wash on the corner of Lemmon and Carlisle for a long time. There was no convenience store or bathrooms so QT will be somewhat different but overall not a huge change. Agree that it’s an unfortunate use of the land

The QuikTrip was announced in Jan 2021. I haven’t heard of anything else there and I believe it includes the old restaurant space. With the horrible CVS, it kind of fits. It will be interesting to see what happens here. The two lots are zoned differently ( if that matters at all). There is more than enough residential. Would be nice to see some retail in this block.

Ba bye to Harris’ House of Heroes on McKinney. I believe the neighborhood just collectively breathed a huge sigh of relief. Hopefully fewer street fights, gunshots and women screaming in the middle of the night. We’ll leave that to a little further down the street until those close down too.

Supposedly it sat vacant and became a dilapidated eyesore because the property owner had no money to tear it down or build anything. For the foreseeable future I doubt anything will be built but don’t know.

Which if the neighborhood did care they would have pushed the city staff to intervene. “The voters voted it down”. That’s funny. The Dream team apparently has no money. And it seems like the neighborhood wants a big ole dog park for now. Time will tell but it sure isn’t going to be a hotel anytime soon.

The empty lot is not a big problem to me as long as the grass is actually mowed and it’s kept clean. Code compliance has been there and there are definitely violations. Not sure if they’ve all been dealt with. But ultimately I don’t think code compliance has any way to force them to demolish the building or do anything beyond basic “maintenance”.
