If they were to bury 345 then would it also bury and connect into the trenched 75 and the end of woodall rogers. Seems if burying is the way then do it all the way and open that entire end of downtown and uptown to developement with no above ground highway.
Not trying to rile anything up but I have always wondered why Highland Park Village and Northpark are under the urban discussion tab especially since most of the discussions only involve store front changes not extra growth or new buildings and neither are in a very urban part of the metro mostly su...
Um I will take this entire project at this height any day over the dead zone that existed in the heart of our Arts District for years and years. I am hopeful we can attain an urban demand for some supertalls in our future. We are fighting headwinds from companies that would rather be in campus forma...
I don't think that site has enough direct walk-able density to make that model work there even with the $700000. Maybe it should sit idle or become a restaurant. I love the ones downtown but they have a lot more people constantly passing in and out of the store than I think this site would.

The area north of Fitzugh and east of the Katy Trail and west of 75 I think is ripe for large mid and high rise dense development. I am all for it and especially extend the streetcar and someday open up the Knox DART station. Dallas needs a dense urban core to compete with the suburban areas by offe...
"They should aim for making it the tallest building West of the Mississippi River. Dallas' tallest have traditionally held this title. We need to reclaim that title once again. And without a cheater spire!"
What a perfect time for Dallas to reclaim that title again!
It is in a disconnected location but I think once Harwood completes it won't feel so strange. Try driving up to it not an easy path. The landscape around the bottom still does not look finished to me and it faces an old parking lot next to the Katy trail. It feels a little like a rocket ship that la...
Could be some perception change but what I keep hearing from people from both coast and Chicago is all taxes taxes taxes. I think that word is getting out more than anything else. They can come here and have more square feet maybe a pool and nice cars on what they save in housing cost and taxes.
I think 2 smaller spaces will be better. I always felt that one space was too large for a restaurant for that space. Hopeful we can see a new concept open there.
Agreed at this rate Austin is building taller buildings all the while having even less density than Dallas does. Until this corporate campus concept goes out of favor I am afraid we are stuck with stubbies.
Oddly if you look at the photo in D magazine it shows a car leaving the building to the street. Not sure where they would even park there they can't go underneath a freeway is down there.
Can't we just do some really nice tree plantings all between the two bridges and along the new trail paths that would bloom in the spring and change colors in the fall. Surely that could be done until we can come up a longer term plan or if we never do then at least it will be pretty and inviting do...
What no weekend service and couldn't they at least stay open until 9pm for the people actually living downtown...I guess this is just for office workers only.
While I am glad to see this project do something at least we will see a nice new wall with some landscaping. Once again I have to wonder about the Oak Lawn Committee and any commitment to dense urban growth if they approved this layout.
Maybe finally West of Turtle Creek towards the tollway will see the high rises start to go up and density increase. I wish the vacant lot at Turtle Creek and Cedar Springs would start as it would go along way to connect that side of Oak Lawn to Uptown.
My favorite aspect about this is that it locked in a permanent structure that compliments and continues the vision for this development. Imagine if something had been built next to the original tower that had nothing to do with that architecture and style.
I will be very interested to see what they come up with for this redo. I could only come up with turning it into a boutique hotel with a flight themed style. Glad to see it will become something used.
It is time for Dallas to develop a new plan for urban growth in and around downtown and become the leader for the entire region of this part of the US. Dallas City Center can offer what no suburb or other smaller city can offer the truly dense urban experience. Similar to this: https://archpaper.com...
I used it last weekend. It puts you straight into Harwood district and provides a fairly nice walk to KWP and downtown. A great and needed access to that part of the city from the trail.
Of the other open systems I wonder how they enforce fare payment and freeloaders on their systems. Seems like if we increased our policing DART and enforced and removed people then the perception of safety and cleanliness would go up and increase ridership. I personally am not turned off or scared b...
There are also non stops to San Jose just to the south of SF. By the time you drive park and go through security to OKC you can almost drive there. That section of 35 moves fairly fast most of the time.
Farmers Market, Deep Ellum, and East Quarter should all see incredible new dense development with this news. Finally a win for Dallas and Downtown for the future.
Would love to know of the other large cities in the US that use open pay open access like DART or those that use a closed pay to enter system. Pros and Cons of both.
