Re: Harwood District: No.14 (388 FT / 27 ST)

I doubt the Harwood “District” will ever feel like a district to me. Over ten years ago I mentioned to one of their senior executives that they needed to work with the city to figure out a way to get the one way streets turned into two ways. Hard to have a “district” that feels like a district witho...

Several issues with Dallas: 1) The city exists within a multi-nodal region that is so economically diverse and strong that Dallas has significant competition all around it. 2) Dallas has bled for many decades and it’s one of the several reasons why the city wound up with so many strong suburbs. 3) T...

Re: Downtown Dallas (Eastside): 2 mixed-use towers

I’m just not seeing that that will be significant demand for office space in or near downtown. The market just doesn’t seem to be there. Users like Goldman Sachs are simply moving from one building to another. Dallas has not done enough to create a compelling draw for office users downtown. It’s eco...

To bad Flora Street will never be an active pedestrian oriented corridor. The institutional, monolithic buildings there prevent opportunities for creating an active street front. It will always feel like an underwhelming area.

Well I’m all for redevelopment with a quality, well designed building AND site. However, variation in building height and massing should remain in Uptown. I don’t think Uptown will remain as active and viable if every block is filled with high-rise buildings.

Nice looking building. I just wish the new buildings in Dallas would take the ground level open design, retail-restaurant spaces or common/shared offices all the way up to the second floors. It would contribute much to the creation of an active, pedestrian feeling environment.
