Re: New Census Population Estimates

285 just seems so too low to me. I work at the Dallas County Tax Office and we at least 20 people a day getting their old cars and titles registered to Dallas County. Are you also keeping track of former Dallas County cars and titles that are being re-registered in counties other than Dallas? ..ok?...

Simply not true. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-updates/cases-in-us.html Yes, it is. Long Island, Westchester, and Rockland counties all have higher cases per capita than NYC. Blaine County Idaho, Southwestern Georgia, Colorado and rural Lousiana are also being hit especially hard.

That would be unfortunate, especially since the most hard-hit counties in the US are mostly rural or suburban.

The Cotton Bowl is also hosting the globally-popular Korean boy band BTS for two nights in early May. I am guessing Spectra has had a strong hand in both of these gets, in addition to the NHL Winter Classic that was on New Years Day. Bravo to them, bringing really, really great stuff to Fair Park p...

Re: Deep Ellum: Epic ~ Knights of Pythias Temple

One of the primary reasons Dallas has grown like it has over the past 150 years is its role as a transportation hub. First it was the railroads, then the highways and now the airports. The DFW area is a immense distribution hub and logistics center. Trade, both domestic and international, is what m...

Re: Austin's proposed tallest (in 4 yrs)

Austin's Downtown has surpassed Houston and Dallas. They're building towers left and right. I feel like there's so much land in Downtown Dallas that's just being held on to by developers who are dreaming of luring a big fish. I wish more of that land was dedicated to residential and Hotel projects....

Re: Trinity River Park

There's tons of renderings showing how riverfront boulevard would look like without the jail. But selling the jail is one thing, moving the other jail buildings requires political muscle that is completely unrealistic in my opinion. Not only moving them, but *where* would they move them? No other p...

Re: DFW Economy

^ That's a great point. With all the building, densification, etc, how is it that Dallas only gained ~1,000 residents? I realize Dallas is land-locked in most directions but it seems like it would have to be something more than that. E.g., are there areas in southern or west Dallas which are losing...

Later that afternoon, though, a word with the manager confirms it. “Yes, we are closing, because the building owner is selling to a developer. Townhomes,” she grumbles and scurries off. There's furniture to manhandle. https://www.dallasobserver.com/arts/the-ross-at-peak-thrift-store-is-closing-1154...

Re: Mountain Creek

Another warehouse ugh. When are they finally gonna put retail here? Or trails, something. It's a shame that a beautiful part of Dallas, with a population of over 15,000, a 3,000+ student university, and a 10,000+ member church has nothing but a gas station.

I don't anticipate seeing them in Oak Cliff until more demographics down there change but that definitely seems like there future. I would have hoped for a Downtown location but that still seems far off for now until more residential comes down the line for the Cedars/Lamar/CBD and Deep Ellum. This...

ehhhhh saying uptown is the best part of the urban core is really debatable.

but I'm really excited for the Azucar ice cream shop coming! I had it in Miami and it was wonderful! It'll highlight Dallas' growing Latino diversity.

I'm shocked at how much those townhomes cost. Half a million??!! I hope that doesn't become the norm for this area as it has in East Dallas by Henderson.

Also, this development is much more fitting for the suburban, middle-class Hispanic population around the area than a trendy, $6 juice bar or coffee shop or "luxury" apartments. And hopefully, it'll take some of the traffic from Cockrell Hill.

Overlooking the First Industrial project is a plan for about 450 additional apartments. Not sure of the status on those but they will likely be approved. The I-20 corridor continues to sail along. Where will the apartments be? I just wish the retail will get here fast. It's so annoying having to go...

Yeah, it's better if you like Vietnamese food. For those looking for Korean food, Royal and 35 is obviously the better option.
