Re: DART: Bus system

It does. It was made the terminus of D-Link when it switched to electric buses, and now is the terminus of route 749, which now uses the ex-D-Link buses. The requisite investment in a bus charging station is also probably part of why they want to find ways to continue using the electrics.

DART wanted to put the maintenance facility in Carrollton, at the northeast corner of Belt Line and Luna, but Carrollton wouldn't give them the ok (a new warehouse has since been built on the spot). Interesting tidbit from the latest DART board presentation on D2. Anyone else starting to get a bit concerned about the lack of visible progress recently? I've seen workers poking about here and there, and the crane moves sometimes, but I haven't seen progress on the crown for weeks. For example, in the middle part along the top there's still a gap in the frame wh...

Speaking of FOX4, that incident where that crazy guy drove a truck into their building happened almost a year ago, but the glass walls that were damaged are still boarded up with plywood. You'd think they would've taken care of it by now.

I wasn't suggesting that the north-south route be used as D2, just that it would be a good placement for such a line at some point. The fact that there's such a debate about the necessity of a second line through downtown implies that any additional lines are completely out of the question until/unl...

DCTA uses Stadler cars, but of a different model (GTW) than TEXRail (FLIRT). It might be an issue of platform height, but more likely it's an issue of loading gauge (width). Loading gauge at platform height can be a major issue with regards to compatibility; it's why, regulatory issues aside, heavy ...
