Re: Oak Lawn

I won’t miss them. Every time I see a palm tree, I wonder....why. They look out of place. I don’t want my hometown to look like Los Angeles or Miami. I live in Dallas.

This week, they have been testing multicolored lighting effects at the top. It’s been bright white for a few months, but I’ve seen red, purple and green so far. Not a fan of any of those. I think blue might work. In the first shot, you see a tiny bit of the white lighting at top. Second shot is pool...

Weirs Plaza topped out

Bricks up to 4th floor now. Sign on Travis side says Weirs Furniture Store to open Fall 2021. This neighborhood is growing “up” fast these last 5 years or so. The green awning on Knox will be Verizon store and a bean bag chair (?) store. The two-story building is empty but 12-15 people went in while...

The brickwork looks to be completed on this corner which faces Trader Joe’s. Not sure what material is planned around the windows. I'll see if I can dig up the old proposal for comparisons sake of what they might have changed. There was a video leaked out maybe summer of 2017 with renderings from before Sarofim sold to MCD. Perhaps Sarofim created it to show future potential. I seem to remember there were 4-5 story buildings, ...

Re: Knox / Henderson - Knox Street Side

I looked at the Retail Connection plot and totally missed the new street. Some thoughts 1) I hope those four lots are not just future parking garages—would it be cheaper to just make a donation to DART to open Knox-Henderson subway stop? 2) perhaps the four lots could have retail facing the streets ...

This DMN story by Maria Halkias is a couple of months old now, but I guess I missed it. Typically, the sale (or ground lease) would be contingent on zoning approval. I don’t imagine they will tear down anything until they have approval in hand.

Saw the tower this morning while driving into downtown, from the I-30 ramp turning north onto I-35, dome shining bright in the sun like a brand new penny. Does anyone know if this tower helps, hurts, or does nothing in regards to the Museum Tower reflection issue and the Nasher? If you look at the position of the tower, you can see that it's at an angle. The developers purposely did this to prevent any reflection on the Nasher Collection. It does no ...

Looking forward to updates as construction gets underway. Construction is already at least halfway vertical. It’s going up dizzyingly fast. Parking garage going up behind new RH (in the background).

It appears to be pre-fab parts and should go up very quickly. I did notice that the tops of the outer sections appear to have detailing (sorta like crown molding). I found that amusing, but didn’t take pics.

There is a reason the Andres brothers gave up and sold out. Now it’s somebody else’s battle to fight. It sounds like the war will be one by the developer eventually, we just don’t know when. I hope it’s soon. Knox/Henderson (the streets) have such potential to be something seen nowhere else in Dallas.
