Re: I-345
Instead of having this massive road run over the middle can they instead run a road cantilevered over the main lanes below. Besides the main lanes are supposed to be 60 feet below grade. This should give them enough room to drop that roadway below grade so that a park can be built over the top of it.

Re: I-345
My biggest problem with this design is the way they have Cesar Chavez running over the middle of the trench before descending into the lower lanes. It seems this would make it more difficult to add deck parks over the trench in the future.

Re: New Census Population Estimates
Why stop with just annexing Irving? They should also annex Richardson, Garland, Mesquite, Wilmer, Hutchins, Lancaster, Duncanville, DeSoto and Grandprairie. The great thing about Lancaster is that it has a lot of the inland port in it's city boundaries as well as a lot of warehouses which has allowe...

I have to admit, your design doesn't look workable to me. The first thing that came to my mind is how are they going to get those big airplanes in between those finger-like terminals. I think you are thinking too hard on this one.

Re: Arts District: Dallas Arts Tower (Chase Tower)
Stevie B is reporting Deloitte is moving out in 2025 and relocating to 23Springs in Uptown. That's a huge loss for Downtown/Arts District. Put a fork in DTD. Once the big law firms start bailing, even the Arts District will be dead. Not if they continue converting these towers to apartments and hop...

Re: Downtown Progress
Actually it is. Dallas' population increased by over 8,000 people last year, and that's a net increase; and is expected to increase by more than that this year. Dallas' primary problem is that the city is having a problem keeping up with the housing demand. Also, they need to make a serious investme...

Re: Downtown Progress
It's rough when the majority of the population doesn't even live in Dallas, which is already somewhat of a dying city in itself, and they struggle to make downtown a destination like Uptown and Deep Ellum are. Most of the residents in this region don't really even have a reason to visit downtown in...

Do you really think that a government agency is going to give accurate information? If you think that then I"ve got some ocean front property in Arizona to sell you.

Looks like the "civility" folks on the City Council are going to try to pass the giveaway again. Schutze posted this Observer blurb: https://www.dallasobserver.com/news/blewett-filed-for-revote-on-reverchon-forgot-to-tell-us-11837199 He added more details on facebook: https://www.facebook...

Re: I-30 South & East Dallas reconstruction
I am wondering if this project follows CityMap guidelines? I was under the impression that they wanted to narrow the highway in order to help close the gap between downtown/east Dallas and the Cedars/Fairpark areas.

Re: New Census Population Estimates
The US Census Bureau released it’s population estimates for cities today and the data obtained between July 1, 2017 and July 1, 2018 doesn’t look so good for Dallas. Fort Worth gained 19,522 (895,008) and is 3rd in terms of largest numeric increase. Dallas gained just 1,960 (1,345,047) over the sam...

I found the following link of 2018 U.S. city population figures. I can't tell if this states if this data is according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

The old Southland Life building is what's a real eye sore. To me it looks like a giant shoebox in the sky. If there is a building in DTD that needs to be demolished I would pick this one.

Re: DFW Economy
Hey Tivo, I'm not sure that Chicago has much appeal anymore. For starters, it has been losing population for more than a few years now, it's crime rate is out of control and it's in a state that's about to declare bankruptcy. I know that Dallas is not perfect but those attributes I just mentioned ca...
