Re: Deep Ellum 1.0
I remember a few years back there was some talk of the Peak & Elm area, northeast of Deep Ellum ("East Ellum"), as a new frontier for development. Besides It'll Do, is there much happening there?

Re: Oak Cliff: Bishop Arts
I'm kind of surprised Sprouts hasn't gotten in early in North Oak Cliff. The chain obviously has no problem with being south of I-30 since they're in Cedar Hill. You'd think they'd want to beat Central Market and, perhaps eventually Whole Foods, to the punch.

Re: Knox / Henderson - Knox Street Side
The largest space has “Now Hiring” signs up. It is going to be a Yeti store. Didn’t know that was a thing. I think Yeti's flagship store in Austin does well enough that they're now taking the concept nationwide. They just opened a retail outlet in Charleston. Knox Street is the ideal location for s...

Re: Henderson Avenue Corridor
The 77 Degrees here in Houston seems to do well but it's in a neighborhood (Midtown) without many long-time homeowners who would complain about Generation Z and millennial carousing. In Dallas, 77 Degrees would seem to be a better fit in Deep Ellum, along with Bottled Blonde and the like.

It's truly amazing what's happening in Bishop Arts. Have any businesses opened in the new developments at Davis and Zang yet?

Re: Deep Ellum 1.0
Someone posted this video on Deep Ellum History in the Dallas History Guild Facebook page. It's quite informative and interesting, even though it was a project by a 7th grader back in 2012. It also has a song from the 1930's that I'd never heard before, "Deep Ellum Blues." Apparently the ...

Re: West Dallas: Trinity Groves
That Atlas Metal Works site is a prime corner spot for a cool mixed-use project. Back in the day, before the bridge when there was no development along Singleton, I thought it would make for some sort of music/art makeover, like what would eventually happen with The Bomb Factory. But it's probably w...

White Rhino Coffee will open their fourth location here and it's confirmed on their website: https://whiterhinocoffee.com/locations/bishop-arts Never heard of White Rhino but it's interesting that, with locations in Red Oak, Cedar Hill, Waxahachie and now Oak Cliff, they seem to specialize in servi...

Re: Downtown Houston Crossed 8,000 Residents In April
You should come down and visit. I like Dallas and wasn't look to move but, due to work, I had to and haven't been sorry. As with Dallas, there's a lot of new development and the equivalent areas to Uptown and Deep Ellum -- Midtown and EaDo -- are starting to happen though they still have some ways t...

Re: Rooftop movie theater to open in Houston
I just noticed your post on this. I was at the opening of the Houston one and spoke briefly to the president of the company and it seems like Texas is definitely on his radar. He said he fell in love with the Houston location, at Post Oak and San Felipe on top of the Whole Foods/BLVD Place developme...

Re: Victory Park: Cinépolis /The 23 (~273 FT / 23 ST)
Was back visiting Dallas and went to the Cinepolis theater this past weekend. Went to the matinee so it was a bit cheaper ($13) than normal. It's a beautifully designed venue and I have no complaints about the theater itself. But there was hardly anyone there and there's still little foot traffic in...

Re: Downtown Dallas: The Drever
I'm enjoying the talk about food halls, but the reality is that we'll probably have 3 or 4 food halls open in the CBD before this project takes off. Speaking of food halls, by the end of next year, Houston will have five food halls downtown: Bravery Chef Hall, Lyric Market, Finn Hall, Conservatory,...

Re: Could Dallas land Amazon HQ '2'?
I wonder if Atlanta is out of the running because of this Delta/NRA situation and if this will alter how Amazon feels about choosing any red state? (Of course, if they've really already decided on DC, then it's a moot point). http://www.businessinsider.com/georgia-gop-delta-airlines-nra-battle-hurts...

Re: Could Dallas land Amazon HQ '2'?
Good piece in the Houston Chronicle on Houston's bid. They concede it's a long shot, especially competing against Austin though they don't mention Dallas:

Re: Could Dallas land Amazon HQ '2'?
^I think you mean San Fernando Valley, not San Bernardino Valley?
I'd love to see Dallas get Amazon HQ2 for all the obvious reasons but also just to see the heads explode on all the hipsters in Brooklyn, Manhattan, San Francisco, Hollywood, Portland and Austin.

Re: West Dallas Developments
Does anyone know what's going on with the old Atlas Metal Works property at the southwest corner of Sylvan and Singleton? The rest of the block facing Singleton has been cleared but Atlas remains. What gives? Is the land owned by someone not willing to sell?
