Re: Uptown Dallas: Central Market at McKinney and Lemmon
I walked by this on Thursday, there was someone standing there, singular person, at the front entrance doing some kind of work, the glass on the front entrance has been entirely taken out and was open, and there was a large roll-off dumpster in the parking lot.

Newpark is such a long way from happening that I'm not sure the current situation is even relevant. The city is already in partnership with the developer providing subsidies, so why actually can't the TIF money be used to help build the school if DISD doesn't have the money? Newpark is a pipe dream. I suspect it will take something out of the ordinary to happen for this development to ever get off the ground. It doesn't look like there's a college in the wings that would take space in a high rise tower on the Southside of Downtown Dallas. Baylor Medical has their own c...

Residential occupancy downtown is still high. If some forward thinking developers are able to get some steep discounts on some distressed properties and just not competing with high priced office space in general many more residential projects could pencil. They need to go full-blown mid-century modern down to the interior décor. The commercial style is what they tore down with abandon back in the day. If this is halfway between the two, then they should just quit trying to pursue that style. The Crescent was old when it was new.
