Re: Deep Ellum: The Stack - 2700 Commerce

I actually don't mind the blank wall. In fact, I kinda like its raw and light contrast. It's not terrible. The windows give it an aesthetic break compared to a blank wall of concrete.

Re: Downtown Dallas: Hillwood Urban's ~50 storey tower on former BoA motorcourt

Oh wow...more soulless glass... If it gets built, that's great. But I'm not optimistic that it will, and neither am I about its generic and uninspiring design. Dallas' 1980s post modern designs really were the best and most ambitious. The 100 story tower originally proposed close to this site back i...

Re: Henderson Avenue Corridor

Would love to see a streetcar line on this corridor. But I don't think there's enough room since it's so narrow.

Re: DART D2 Subway

Couldn't support the weight of the trains? The concrete "tunnel" was a bridge built for a freight rail yard...I find that hard to believe. Nonetheless, I really want to see D2 come to fruition. The rapid growth and densification of Dallas now necessitate a subway system.

Re: Downtown: Jackson at Market Parking Garage

Rebuild that. We need a revival of beautiful and architecturally aesthetic buildings such as that. Dallas is an absolute disgraceful city for all the historical beauties that were destroyed for...parking lots...

Re: Victory Park 3.0

As far as I've heard there is still no personality to the neighborhood. Until Design District has more rooftops to contribute I still don't see Victory Park stabilizing. After all, Victory Park is still very separated from Uptown its a real struggle to accidentally end up over there with large wide...

Re: Downtown Dallas: Dallas High School

Pompous would be the names of some of these poorly made buildings with their cheap and terrible looking architecture. I Feel free to criticize the architecture and the build quality and the names (wishing the Chole had not a mis-print), but the names you gave implicated the renters, not the archite...

Re: Downtown Dallas: Dallas High School

Corporate dorms. Corporate plantation. You choose your euphemism. How about neither, because they both sound ridiculously pompous? It's 51% affordable units, where affordable equals earning 30-60 percent of Dallas’ median household income. Well, let's see. Poorly constructed buildings. Overpriced, ...

you guys think deep ellum will only come back stronger? Seems to be a lot of things opening up right now It will come back. Stronger? Well, I suppose since everyone is fleeing other failed states like California to Texas. I think there will be a short-term boom in the economy as the Fed continues Q...

Re: Deep Ellum 1.0

^ It's not comeback, it's a hostile takeover from Uptown. The "renovated" Serious Pizza has all the ambience of a Denny's. The other restaurants/bars owned by the same company serve up canned music and cardboard food to plastic people. The ultimate insult is The Stack. As another poster s...

Has anyone noticed how bad the facade of the Centrum is looking? That update has not aged well and it's only been a few years?! wow Considering the cheap and incredibly badly built apartment complexes that have been built with their stucco and slapped together facades, I would think that a lot of t...
