KRLD TV / Radio

I just found this website because I'm a giant nerd, and there's no one in Huntsville (except the prisoners) because finals are over. I thought it was an interesting look at Dallas radio and TV in the first half of the 20th century, as well as having some good pictures of downtown from the 30's through the 50's.

This guy also gives a compelling reason for "dumpster diving" at the beginning.

Great find. Those pictures of DT are pretty cool. I also like the ones of the old radio equipment. A lot of that stuff looks almost cartoonish because of it's size.

I think the two pictures that kill me are the ones of the equipment (especially the one with film projectors...can you believe until the seventies, that's how pre-recorded footage was shown?) and then also the one of the GM or engineer or someone smoking in master control! Most stations won't even let you take a beverage into the studio or master control these days, much less any sort of tobacco product.

Wow, great pictures. I never new the Adolphus had its name on the roof before. I've always been a fan of rooftop signage. Its too bad most of it is disappearing these days.
